ACCEPTABLE DTP PROGRAMS AND FILE FORMATS

We are predominatly Apple Mac-based but can also accept PC files where marked with an asterisk(*),

• Quark Express (version 7.2 or below)*
• PDF files (please download our PDF guideline sheet for help in making print quality PDF files.)
• Adobe Photoshop*
• Adobe Illustrator (version CS1 or below)*
• Adobe Pagemaker (version 6.5 or below)*
• Macromedia Freehand (version 9 or below)*
• Corel Draw (Version 11 or below)*
• Microsoft Publisher 2003 or below*
• We can also accept files direct from Microsoft Office:
• Microsoft Word*
• Microsoft Excel (If this is being supplied as a datasheet for merging purposes, please ensure the first row contains field names.)*
• Microsoft PowerPoint*
• Please note however that Microsoft products (except Microsoft Publisher 2003) do not work in either CMYK or RGB but use a system of index colours instead. Conversion during print process from these products results in a colour variation to what you see on screen.

Please see if you can save your job from the programme you are creating it in, in one of the following formats:

TIFF, JPEG, BMP, PICT FILE, Postscript (Level 2 + 3 only, Binary) and EPS (preferably with preview).

LOGOS

If creating text in a photo imaging package you must have 'anti-aliasing' switched on otherwise your text will appear jagged.

SCANNING RESOLUTIONS AND DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY GUIDELINES

Black and White and Colour photographs Continuous Tone should be scanned at a minimum of 200dpi but better results will come if you scan at the normal print resolution of 300dpi. Lineart should be scanned at 600dpi or higher

Digital Photographs should be taken using the highest resolution available.

IMPORTANT NOTE: All scanners and digital cameras have a bias towards a colour (usually cyan or magenta). We will be happy to colour correct your images but this will involve extra cost.

BLEED

Please allow for 3mm bleed in all elements of your design which require it.

IMPOSING

Please do not impose your work but supply it in the form you would read it. Do not lay the pages out 2-up, 8-up etc. or include your own crop/cut marks (especially for business cards). Keep the pages separate and we will take care of the rest.

ACCEPTABLE MEDIA

31/2" Floppy, MODO Optical disk (up to 230mb), ZIP (up to 750mb), and CD. Alternatively jobs can be emailed to us to orders@digitalimagin.com or uploaded using the facilities on our on-line ordering.

IMAGE AND PAPER SIZES, WEIGHTS

We can handle paper sizes up to 320mm x 488mm. Paper weight from 70gsm to 280gsm inclusive. The maximum image size is 303mm x 480mm inclusive of crop marks.

SAVE AS CMYK

Its preferable to save images as CMYK.

FINAL CHECK LIST

We have an extensive collection of fonts but please include any you have used that are not standard. Please make sure to include all the items required for printing purposes: e.g. all graphics (including the original for an embedded graphic). A marked up hard copy of your job will help our operators to produce your work more accurately.
