Company A has a large sales-force that not only often changes but also has varying needs for business cards. They used to have to wait until they had four employees requiring cards and then order a minimum of 250 of each to make it viable. Nowadays, they order when they want and for how many they want with numbers from 50 to 500.

Company B is a northern-based engineering company attending an exhibition in Russia for a toe-in the water bid to expand their market there. For the exhibition they only needed 200 copies of their high-quality 12-page A4 brochure printed in Russian. Litho printing was too expensive so they turned to digital printing. The exercise was a success and they now have the confidence to look at larger runs.

Company C is a one-man roofing company specialising in traditional methods. His work quality is high, but the demand for brochures is low but at the same time it is important that the pictures are current. By keeping a base design, he is able to update his brochure and then order in runs of 50.

Company D needs to do regular mail shots to remind their customers and potential customers that they are there. The print-run is relatively low, however. But thanks to variable printing software, they are able to perform clever, targeted marketing that produces results.
